Dear Knights Fans,
I hope this email finds everyone doing well. We’ve had an exciting fall season here at DC, and we’re off to a strong start in winter sports. Below is an update on DC Athletics, along with some announcements regarding the future of our programs.
Fall Sports Highlights:
This past fall, DC saw 90% of its athletic teams reach postseason play in District 1. Our football program made it to the KSFL Championship game. Although they came up short, it was a historic season with just one loss on the year. Our field hockey program also had a remarkable season, finishing ranked 2nd in District 1 and hosting a first-round playoff game. Additionally, our golf team qualified for districts as a team and sent an individual to compete. Our cros country team saw one individual qualify for states, and both our soccer programs reached the district playoffs.
Middle School Athletics:
Our middle school athletics program had an outstanding season as well. Three of our teams competed in the league championship, with both our boys soccer and field hockey teams winning the BAL title. Our girls basketball team just completed their second undefeated season, capturing the BAL MS Girls Basketball Championship last Thursday. DC Athletics continues to thrive, and we are grateful for the opportunities God has provided.
Looking Ahead: The Future of DC Athletics
As previously mentioned, we had been exploring the addition of girls volleyball to our community. After much consideration and communication with other Athletic Directors, I have decided to delay this addition for a few more years. I believe it is important for our current fall sports programs to grow and develop healthy rosters before we add another sport. As our school community continues to expand, we are excited about the growth of DC Athletics, and once we see consistent, healthy rosters across all Fall sports, we will revisit the possibility of adding girls volleyball.
Exciting Change for Football:
Effective immediately, DC will be transitioning from 8-man football to 11-man football for the 2025 fall season. This change will allow us to compete in more local contests, join a league, and contend for district and state championships. It will also align us with all of our other sports under the PIAA. We are thrilled about this transition and ask for your prayers and wisdom as we add more coaches to our staff. Please also pray for the students who may consider DC as their school home with this new transition. I will provide more details soon regarding our home game locations and the upcoming season's schedule. If you have any questions, feel free to reach out to me directly.
Fall Preseason Start Dates for Upper School Athletics:
Varsity football, and varsity and JV boys/girls golf will start on August 4, 2025.
Varsity and JV boys and girls soccer, varsity girls tennis, varsity field hockey, and varsity cross country will start on August 11, 2025.
Start dates for middle school fall sports will be communicated at a later date.
Thank you for your continued support of DC Athletics. The future is bright, and we are excited about the road ahead.
GO KNIGHTS!
Warm regards,
Kevin Wallace
