Setting the Tone

The boys lacrosse program at DC is gearing up for yet another competitive spring season as the Knights look to continue building momentum in one of the school’s growing athletic programs. With a mix of experienced upperclassmen and developing younger players, the team enters the season focused on teamwork and leadership both on and off the field.
Leading the Knights this year are key seniors Jay Gricco, Christian O'Donnell, and Costa Samios, three players who have become central figures in the program. These athletes have been instrumental in setting the tone for the team, bringing leadership, intensity, and consistency to practices and games. Over the past few seasons, the trio has helped shape the culture of the program, emphasizing hard work and a strong sense of team unity. “We’re ready to put in the work,” Gricco commented. O’Donnell added, “This team has the potential to go far; we as seniors need to set the tone.”
The Knights’ schedule this season will test the team against a range of regional opponents as they continue to develop as a program. They will be participating as an independent team, as opposed to most DC sports teams who participate in the BAL. Among the upcoming matchups are games against Tri-State Christian Academy, Avon Grove Charter, and other area programs. These contests will provide opportunities for the Knights to measure their progress while gaining valuable in-game experience throughout the spring.
Early-season games will be especially important as the team looks to establish momentum and refine its systems on both offense and defense. Coaches and players alike have emphasized growth from week to week, focusing on communication, discipline, and execution as the season progresses. They will be led by their coach, Antonio Gibson, entering his third year as the Knights’ head man.
As the season unfolds, the Knights will rely on their senior leaders to help develop underclassman players such as Wes Ko, a talented young freshman, along with many other freshmen and sophomores ready to make a name for themselves on the field. Unfortunately, junior Josh Videon will not play in games this season due to injuries sustained during his previous football seasons. Despite the injury, he will continue to support the team in practices as he prepares for his senior season next year. “I wish I could have played this season, but I know this team can still do great things,” Videon reflected.
With dedication and a shared goal of improvement, the Knights are ready to take the field and make this season another step forward for the program.
