As the spring season approaches, the girls lacrosse team at Delaware County Christian School is preparing for an exciting, competitive year. With a blend of returning experience and new athletes joining the program, the team has been working through preseason practices focused on building chemistry, improving fundamentals, and setting the tone for the months ahead.

Energy has been high throughout the early stages of preparation. Practices have emphasized conditioning, stick skills, and communication on the field as the team looks to build a strong foundation before the first scrimmages and games begin. Players say that the environment has been focused, but positive at the same time, with teammates pushing each other to improve while building strong connections off the field as well.

Senior captain Lily Peters, returning for her final season, commented on the team’s preparation and mindset: “This year feels special, we’ve been working really hard in preseason, and there’s a lot of excitement around the team. This year our strength is going to be our numbers, having a JV and varsity as well as playing many girls. Our program continues to get stronger, and I’m excited to see how we’ll do this year.

That competitive mindset has helped shape practices so far as players continue to focus on improving and working together. Another storyline this season is the addition of new players getting involved in the sport for the first time. Junior Evie Gray is among those athletes, stepping into lacrosse this year and adjusting to the fast pace of the game. “I decided to try lacrosse because a lot of my friends were playing and I wanted to push myself and be part of something new,” Gray said. “The team has been really welcoming, and everyone has helped me learn. It’s been a lot of fun so far, and I’m excited to see how the season goes.”

Indeed, new players joining the program have brought fresh energy to the team, helping create a sense of excitement around this season. As Junior Caris Peters explained, “Everyone wants to compete and improve, and the practices have been intense in a good way. You can tell people really care about the team. Our main goals this year is to host district games and sweep every BAL team we face. Beating Jenkintown last year was huge, and we want to do it again.”

As the Knights continue preparing for their first scrimmage against Westtown, the focus remains on steady improvement and strong teamwork. If the early effort and energy seen in preseason are any indication, the girls lacrosse team could be in for an exciting season ahead.
