The 2024-25 DC girls basketball team fashioned a very impressive season last year with a 25-5 overall record: 9-1 in the BAL regular season, 10-2 in non-league games, 3-0 in the BAL postseason tournament, and 3-2 in the PIAA district and state playoffs.

Understandably, the girls are still enthralled by last season’s success. “The highlight of last year was celebrating together,” recalled junior forward Anna Latchford. “Each win felt like the world to us because of the dedication and hard work that went into the game to earn our wins.”

In addition, the season is off to a great start as the girls have surged to a 4-0 start, heading into the DC Invitational Tournament. “This group has a real chance to set records this year,” Coach Jake Godino reported. “We are pursuing what major European soccer clubs call ‘The Treble.’ This refers to winning three trophies in a single year, with those trophies typically being your league championship, your country’s cup championship and the Champions League title. For us, it's our league championship, district championship and state championship.”

The players are also excited about the potential for the upcoming season. “My outlook for this season is a district championship,” remarked sophomore guard Ella Stinger. “It was truly heartbreaking to lose that game, so I’m looking forward to getting our get-back and taking home that trophy.”

Key returning players include junior forwards Anna Latchford and Audrey Bechtel, as well as sophomore guards Ella Stinger and Mary O'Donnell. The team will also benefit from a talented freshman guard, Dom Good, who will help direct the offense. In addition, the squad will feature a full roster of twelve players rather than the nine that took the court last year. 

With both returning and new talent, a driven coaching staff, and the hunger to finish what they started, the DC girls are aiming to repeat last year’s success and push for a season that will redefine the program’s legacy.
