A Return To Prominence

To say the boys soccer season was successful is an understatement; better stated, it was remarkable. Not only did they post the best record in school history, going 21-4 and snapping archrival Faith Christian’s regular season win streak spanning back to 2023, but they also accomplished things that no other DC soccer team had done: capturing a District 1A championship.
A major storyline of the season was junior midfielder Justin Ma, who led the team with 17 goals and 7 assists. Ma became known for his insane bicycle kick against archrival Faith Christian, snapping their regular season win streak. Reflecting on the season, Ma remarked, “This season filled me with so much joy. I loved playing with every player and we truly built incredible bonds with one another.”
The connection among teammates proved true as the Knights claimed the number one seed in the District 1A playoffs with a regular season record of 15-3. Notably, they were able to capture their first District 1A title in school history, defeating Calvary Christian, 3-0, whom they split against in the regular season.
Senior striker Jude Sacks, who delivered 12 goals and 7 assists in his final season, played a pivotal role in the Knights’ postseason surge. His goal in the district final cemented his place among the most accomplished offensive players in DC history. Looking back, Sacks said, “We wanted to leave a legacy, something the younger guys could build on. Despite dealing with a constant injury throughout the whole season, which prohibited me from playing in the first half of the schedule, perseverance was the leading factor in our success and run this year.”
In addition to winning districts, the boys made a run at states, making it all the way to the state final without allowing a goal. However, that streak was snapped in overtime of the state championship as the Knights fell to an undefeated Bentworth squad, 1-0.
Even in defeat, the Knights finished the season with their heads high, knowing they had authored the most remarkable chapter in DC soccer history. From snapping rival streaks to hoisting the district trophy to battling into overtime of a state final, this team proved what belief and brotherhood can achieve.
Boys Soccer Looks to Win Districts

Two years removed from their 2023 PIAA 1A state championship, the Delaware County Christian School boys soccer team in 2025 is looking to build on a 9-10-1 record and a 2024 District 1A semifinal appearance.
After falling short in the District 1A semifinal to Calvary Christian last year, the boys are looking to use their experience to get back to the state playoffs. A veteran-led team, they return an entire starting lineup consisting of juniors and seniors.
Coming into his 14th season as head coach of the soccer team, Mr. Rob Atkins has goals and expectations for the group: "Our purpose as a soccer team is to honor and glorify God by maximizing our God-given talents as we compete at a high level as a varsity program. My goal every year is that we grow as a team in fulfilling this purpose.”
Senior captain Jude Sacks hopes to set the tone for the whole team, making sure that they push themselves every game, regardless of the outcome. “My personal goal is to keep leading by example, whether that’s scoring, creating chances, or just keeping everyone motivated,” Sacks said. “ More than anything, I want us to play as a team and leave everything on the field…to know that we are playing for God's glory and not our own.”
Fellow senior captain Brecon William’s goals for the team are to lead the team the right way and set the standard every game. “For me, that means contributing in different ways, whether it’s putting away goals, setting up teammates, or keeping our energy and focus high,” he stated. “More than anything, I want us to compete together, leave it all on the field, and play in a way that gives glory to God, not ourselves.”
Not only does the team want to set an example for the rest of the program and the school, but they also want to come home with some untouched hardware--a PIAA 1A District Championship, something that the team has never won. “Winning districts is something we’re all working toward, and I believe we have the group to make it happen if we stay locked in,” Williams declared. Similarly, Sacks observed, “I see us competing for districts and hopefully states later on.”
With a unified goal of playing together for God’s glory and trying to win a district championship, the team is off to a hot start, posing a formidable 6-0 record. This winning streak includes a 2-0 victory over archrival Dock Mennonite on Friday, led by goals from junior Cole Matthews and Sacks.
